Milton Keynes was locally known as MK. It is a large city in Buckinghamshire, England. It is the administrative centre of Milton Keynes . It was taken as a new city on 23 January 1967, with the scheme brief to develop a city in balance. It is located about 45 miles north-west of London.
At designation, it is a 89 km area combined with the current towns of Bletchley, Walkerton, and Stony Stratford and other fifteen communities and country between. It acquired its name from the current village of Milton Keynes which is located few miles east of the deliberate centre.
At the 2011 survey, the population of the Milton Keynes urban region, Newport Pagnell and Woburn Sands was 229,941. The population of broader area, which has been a unitary professional enlightened of Buckinghamshire County Council since 1997, was 248,800. In 1961 it was around 53,000 for the same zone.
Culture
Music:
The open air National Bowl is a 65,000 size site for large-scale actions. In Wavendon, the Stables offers a venue for jazz, blues, folk, rock, classical, pop and world music. It was originated by jazz artists Cleo Laine and the late John Dankworth. This venue is now classified in the UK's top 10 music sites by the Performing Right Society. It presents around 400 recitals and over 200 education proceedings each year. It also swarms the National Youth Music Camps seasonal camp for young bands. In 2010, it originated the biennial IF Milton Keynes International Festival, creating proceedings in unusual spaces and places across Milton Keynes.
Arts and Literature:
The 1,400 seat Milton Keynes Theatre released in 1999. The theatre has an uncommon feature: the ceiling can be dropped concluding off the third tier to make a more warm space for smaller-scale manufacturers. There are extra performance spaces in Bletchley, Wolverton, Leadenhall, Shenley Church End, Stantonbury and Walton Hall.
MK also has a fiction Act, with groups like Speakeasy meeting frequently and hosting enactment actions, and previous poetry and arts magazine, Monkey Kettle which ran between 1999 and 2014. Also, two presentation poetry assemblies exist – Poetry Kapow! An offshoot of Monkey Kettle though now sovereign of the parent organisation, specialising in live, multi-discipline, communicating poetry/art/music events, typically containing bangs and Tongue in Chic, a stable open mic poetry event which landscapes headline poets such as John Hegley.
